Academic, Spring 2015

400 S Hill St, Los Angeles

40,000 sq ft

CALA, the Center for Architecture and Urban Design Los Angeles, is driven by two light wells that go through the whole volume to maximize natural lighting use in the center. Transparent and translucent channel glass is utilized on sides facing the street, also to increase indirect sunlight to minimize indoor artificial lighting use. An additional metro entrance are introduced to the site to encourage public transportation as a part of Los Angeles urban development.
